Hailed as a “Rising star in the guitar world”, Jaxon Williams is an acclaimed classical guitarist and pedagogue. He has won prizes in various international competitions, is a former Fulbright scholar, and performs internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician. An active chamber musician, Jaxon has performed and collaborated with the duo Jâca, the Loja Symphony Orchestra, Sounding Board Project, The Resonance Collective, and the Festival Du Vert A Linfini, among others. He has performed in historic venues such as Carnegie Hall (USA), Teatro Benjamin Carrion (Ecuador), the Real Alcázar (Spain), and his playing has been featured on live national TV and Radio in Portugal, South America, and the USA. Jaxon’s recent recordings include the album Breakthrough, (Navona Records) with the duo Jâca, which has received critical acclaim including the 2023 IPMA “Best Instrumental Performance” award. Jaxon holds a Doctorate in guitar performance from USC and is currently based in Seville, Spain, where he divides his time between both Classical and Flamenco guitar.
An education specialist and curriculum innovator, Jaxon served as the California Regional Director for the nonprofit Lead Guitar (leadguitar.org), where he built classical guitar programs in low-access public schools, trained new teachers, and helped develop the organization’s guitar ensemble method—an online curriculum now used to support school-based guitar programs across the country. In addition to his work in classrooms, Jaxon is the co-founder and faculty member of GuitarLab (guitarlab.us), a virtual intensive offering conservatory-level training and mentorship to advanced young classical guitarists.Jaxon is also the creator of Practice Pilot, a popular game-based system designed to help guitarists practice more effectively, now used by learners and teachers around the world. He has released courses on major guitar platforms including Tonebase and Guitar by Masters, and has created curricula for educational nonprofits. As a growing voice in the online education space, his free instructional videos have garnered over a million views on YouTube and attracted more than 20,000 subscribers.
In addition to his solo work, Jaxon is an active chamber musician and the co-founder of the award-winning clarinet and guitar duo Jâca. Described as “at the forefront of an exciting new wave of chamber music groups” (Sneak Preview) and praised for creating “some of the best student engagement I have seen in my eight years as an education director” (Britt Music & Arts Festival), Jâca blends world music traditions with classical virtuosity in high-energy, genre-bending performances.Jaxon also co-leads Jâca’s outreach and commissioning efforts, including the Jâca Cultural Exchange Program—a nonprofit that supports underserved musical communities—and the Emerging Composers Competition, one of the most prolific initiatives for new clarinet and guitar music.
