As a performer

Hello, I'm Jaxon

I’m a concert guitarist who believes great performances should move people, not just impress them. I’ve performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, with appearances at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Real Alcázar of Seville. As one half of the award-winning guitar and clarinet duo Jâca, I’ve released music on Navona Records and received international recognition for bringing classical music to audiences with energy, warmth, and personality.

Whether I’m performing traditional repertoire or exploring music from around the world, my goal is always the same: to create performances that are engaging, expressive, and deeply human. I love building programs that connect with audiences and remind people that classical music can be both virtuosic and genuinely fun.

Laurel & Jaxon

Guitar & Voice

Jaxon & Laurel first met in High School in their hometown in Oregon, but it wasn’t until a chance meeting over a decade later in Los Angeles that they realized they were both musicians!  With a penchant for the new and out-of-the box, the duo pushes the boundaries of traditional classical music, performing and premiering new and innovative repertoire regularly around Los Angeles.

They are 2018 winners of the Beverly Hills National Auditions and have performed and recorded works by Dominick Argento, Daniel Nass, Reena Esmail, David Leisner, and more.

Sounding Board Project

New Music Collective

Founded by guitarist Bokyung Byun and composer Nicky Sohn, the Sounding Board Project creates new classical guitar repertoire by encouraging close collaboration between composers and performers.

As a performer-in-residence, Jaxon helped composers develop new works, performed and recorded more than five pieces, and commissioned Friction by Sato Matsui. The piece blends Japanese sonorities with classical and flamenco guitar textures in a bold contemporary language.
